Winemaker's Tasting Notes

A highly regarded flagship wine for Gralyn Estate, showing great depth of flavour and finesse. The fruit is sourced entirely from a single vineyard, Wildberry Springs, situated in Willyabrup. Bright straw-green in colour, with complex aromas of nectarine and citrus. Wild yeast fermentation and maturation in French oak barriques has produced a finely textured, rounded palate, with refreshing minerality on a long persistent finish. It is a very well balanced food wine that can be enjoyed young, or cellared for several years to develop further.

Comments

Light, bright yellow/green colour; there is great complexity in the bouquet, including citrus fruits and butterscotch malo characters. Honey touches, too. In the mouth, it's very youthful, bright and nervy with excellent driving acidity. The flavours are concentrated, bright, fruit-driven yet very complex. It finishes very long. A delicious wine of great charm and allure. Rated second out of sixty two 2013 Margaret River Chardonnay. 96/100

This is a tightly-controlled highly-minerally chardonnay made much in the modern style. Aromas show some nice spiciness with a subtle citrus character. On the palate the white peach and gentle cereal grapefruit mix are held with a fine acidity to the long finish. 93/100
