Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker's Tasting NotesA great value, early release, from the outstanding 2011 vintage. It is a full bodied dry red wine vintaged from Gralyn 'old vine' Cabernet Sauvignon. The bouquet is perfumed with violets, cedary oak and rich black fruits - backcurrant, bilberry and blackberry. The palate is intense and powerful with fine savoury tannins providing a long persistent finish. The vibrancy of this young wine will allow for enjoyable early drinking (decanting is recommended), but it also has the balance and structure to reward careful cellaring.
This is one of the best cabernets produced from Gralyn. It's a little lighter and more controlled than previous vintages showing an excellent balance of fruit and dusty oak. Precise grainy tannins and a bay leaf and tobacco-like character on the nose. Lovely precise and focused palate structure with a very long finish. 96/100
